Prince Harming Syndrome… stop kissing pigs!

prince_harming_jacketnew-copy1

Karen Salmansohn, queen of marketing and blogging has a new book out.  She is a the self help author for those who wouldn’t be caught dead reading self help books!

I browsed her website and it made me think of a Cosmopolitan: a great cocktail for women that mixes the right amount of philosophy, psychology and humor mixed together and poured for just the sweet and girly advice you need on Friday at 7 pm (or even 5 ).

But then I went a step further and read the first chapter of the book (due diligence always!) and well it a very easy read, with a fun style, to the point and concise enough that I wanted to get my hands on the next chapter. Like having a Cosmo for my brain… and most definitely a book that you can read with a Cosmo (or 2) in hand.

And furthering my investigation, I found out that she is giving over the next 5 Sundays: mini Love Boosting seminars for 20 $ from 5 to 7 and it starts with a love potion drink which is exactly what I had intended to do…

However the core of the problem starts much earlier. And perhaps, we should stop drilling little girls brains with princess books, movies and more … it might save some from therapy when they grow up.

Mon petit Secret @ Madame X… and much more

DSCN1774

Madame X is my kind of bar… no TVs and  no guys with baseball caps on!

And it’s  is one of these places where there is always something happening (and count on me to remind you the events not to be missed).

This month you’ll see Caitlin Mitchell’s intimate and sensual photography: Mon Petit Secret. She is a very talented portrait and fashion photographer based in New York.

tuesdayevening

And Monday starts the Lady Jane’s Salon, Romance Fiction Reading Series, which features USA Today and New York Times Best selling author Caridad Pineiro, local author and Huffington Post blogger Joanne Rendell, and award winning blogger/non-fiction author Elizabeth Kerri Mahon.

Join romance authors Maya Rodale, Leanna Renee Hieber, and Hope Tarr for Manhattan’s first reading series devoted exclusively to romance fiction. Admission is $5.00 or one gently used romance novel. Cash bar. It’s just fun, laces and for a good cause… what’s there not to love!

After sex glow…

Yes for those of you who explored the blog, I posted this one in August but at the time I had shared this address with 5 people (including some relatives who do not own a computer) and for those who haven’t seen this one, it a must!

I love everything about this film  and mostly that finally a cosmetic company tells us that love, passion or quick sex in the back of a car is better that any cream you could apply on your face.

Truly, if you want to have a beautiful skin… do as the Yves Rocher publicity: fall in love, make love and let the natural flow of collagen and DHEA do the rest.

And kudos to Yves Rocher who was also the sponsor of Elles@centrepompidou, the first major Contemporary Women’s exhibit. Check out the video worth seeing just to catch Louise Bourgeois’ extract!

If he doesn’t like you so… might have to kiss him Goodbye.

But nicely, with a little wit and in the form of a poem by Dorothy Parker

Indian Summer:

In youth, it was a way I had
To do my best to please,
And change, with every passing lad,
To suit his theories.

But now I know the things I know,
And do the things I do;
And if you do not like me so,
To hell, my love, with you!

Even Carla Bruni couldn’t resist to her poems and sang one in her album No Promises called Afternoon.

Cheers!

How to seduce difficult women: aren’t we all?

This movie seems to be a male version of Sex & the City. I haven’t seen it yet but I am pretty sure that I will just for the fun. But also maybe because I might learn a thing or two from a man’s point of view which is always invaluable since frankly the men in my life (yes 3 total… and ok 2 are under the age of 8!) do not seem to have any need for communicating anything valuable!

And I can’t wait to see how a French man intends to share to his American counterparts his understanding & knowledge of seduction and how American women will respond.

How to seduce difficult women premieres on October 30th exclusively at The Village East Cinemas

Seduce my mind and you can have my body, find my soul and I’m yours forever…”

Feel the fear and do it anyway: Jessica Watson,16 is sailing solo around the world

I do not know what to think about 16 year old Jessica Watson. She is part of this year’s trend of teenagers trying to break the world record of the youngest person to sail solo, nonstop and unassisted around the world. The record was held by British sailor Mike Perham, 17 since last year. Jessica says that she was inspired by Kay Cottee who at 34 became the first woman to sail solo, around the world in June 1988.

My first reaction is to think she is crazy but following your dream often is.
My next reaction is just pure admiration for this young woman so determined that she won’t let her age or lack of inexperience stop her. (You should see my laundry list of excuses!!)
Then I just think that the world of tomorrow is going to be quite a fun place for my boys with young women like her shaping it.

Maybe her trip is taking place slightly earlier than she might have planned – due to this teenage competition frenzy- but Jessica left 4 days ago for a trip that she estimates to 230 days. I will, like many thousands of people, follow her blog during this adventure.

Now thank god,  the court in The Netherlands has decided that Laura Dekker, 13 was too young to try to sail around the world by herself.

So if there is any fear left in you to accomplish whatever dream, pick up Susan Jeffers’ book: Feel the Fear and Do it anyway and sail away ;)

Thanks Nathalie
