Auction house sells Sex

In times of recession, everyone goes back to basics and when you’ve got to sell something well… sex is is a sure bet!

Phillips de Pury, the international auction house, compiled 121 lots of artist that will surely arouse your curiosity and perhaps a lot more.
They also made sure that everyone is pleased with this auction: “SEX will take the debate about the interplay of contemporary art and sexuality a step further in presenting works that challenge our concepts of gender, sexual imagery and desirability.”

I must say that the best thing about SEX, this auction in particular and the practice in general, is that it is for everyone – no restrictions of gender, religion or taste apply.

So feel free to join in on March 19th and start bidding until your heart starts pounding!

Old school will reach for Picasso or Matisse, Hip might go for Nan Goldin or Vanessa Beecroft.
Hard core might grab Mapplethorp or Thomas Ruff but if you prefer the more subtle you catch Tom Wesselmann.
Homosexuality is largely represented with Tom of Finland and David Hokney. Fashion too, with Newton’s racy pictures of Carla Bruni Sarkozy.
The wealthy will bid on SEX, 1992 by Jack Pierson, estimated between £60,000-80,000 or Sigmar Polke, Untitled, 1974.  If you are New Money aka No Money then you might linger towards a Cecily Brown drawing that starts with a £1,000 bid – a bargain!
