Floanne, Always in Love

The last time I felt shivers running down my spine was at one of  Floanne‘s concert. Her voice is very unique, with a “je ne sais quoi” hypnotizing effect… I can’t find the words to describe it but she let’s say she is always asked to recorded national commercials such as the Parisienne Perfume by Yves St Laurent & looping for feature films.

So there she was on stage introducing her songs -some of her own and others she was interpreting- with the ease that only comes from true passion and mastered artistry. Beyond her voice, she has this unique talent to create an intimate atmosphere with her audience by subtly mixing humor and sensibility.

During our interview she told me that the singing and song writing has allowed her to explore her vulnerability and to balance her otherwise strong personality. Truly a creative spirit, she acts, dances and makes films without being attached to the outcome; seeking the self-discovery process from this multidisciplinary approach.

“Floanne, are you in love right now?” I ask her

“Always, I am always in love” she answer with a half blush. “I fall in love very easily because Love is always part of my intentions.”

And as a result, love flows freely through her work whether in her upcoming album collaborating with American musicians or the movie she is directing, Boudoir Chit Chat, a conversation between 5 women artist about their creativity, relationships and New York.

Amazingly, she tells me that she arrived in New York as a dancer and only started singing in 2001, Opera no less! But the world is her Oyster and her appetite for life & love can’t be restrained… So now is your chance to listen to her in small venues. This Friday August 27th, she is celebrating her friends and 10 years in New York: improv comedy and French love songs from the 60′s with Helen Russell at the piano.

At hot spot Flute Gramercy at 40 East 20th Street, you will mingle in a lovely setting with a truly Franco-American crew a glass of Champagne in hand. A proposition even the strongest will find hard to turn down!

Follow her on Facebook for what will come next… her shows and more successes bien sur!

Poême is an original song by Floanne and my favorite, you can download it freely from her website, sharing the love!
