Van Leeuven Truck

I LOVE the summer.

It is by far the most sensual season of the year. Everything from fashion (mini skirts & bikinis) to smells (Hawaiin Tropic lotion anyone?) makes you feel sexy. But when it comes to food, it’s off the charts. I mean if you think of it, you get to eat a lot of meals with your fingers: a good BBQ hamburger, watermelon slices and peaches with the juices dripping  in your palm and last but not least: ice creams!

Nothing beats childhood memories of the ice cream truck music which would be followed by intense debates about the flavor to pick. And that could take up the whole afternoon! The good part in life is that some things haven’t changed: I still love ice cream trucks and can still debate like the best of them over raspberry vs. pistachio.

My favorite ice cream truck these days is the pretty grown-up Van Leeuwen truck… It’s has the best of the best, most natural ingredients. The truck is elegant, the ice-cream guy is cute and the flavors are highly sophisticated such as Giandujia Choloate by Michel Cluizel with rich Piedmont hazelnuts… and their rare breed vanilla made from organic bourbon and Tahitian Vanilla orchids grown in Papua New Guinea.

But, I’ve grown up and am ready to move beyond even the most sophisticated Vanilla & Chocolate flavors…

Lucky me. Someone out there has my desires at heart & walking down the aisles of Whole Foods, I found this fabulous brand of Ice cream Mercer’s Dairy that created my new favorite flavor … Red Raspberry Chardonnay!

Oui Madame ! They are winners of the 2008 Wine Ice Cream World Taste Champion!

And with 5 percent alcohol, you must be 21 years of age or older to enjoy.
