A wise man once said, “There is no greater index of character so sure as the voice.” Yes, the human voice is a fantastic tool. Some voices possess a great deal of magic in them, others come drenched in honey. The human voice runs the gamut: from deep and low-pitched to thin and swoopy (think Marilyn Monroe). The voice can even be likened to a snowflake or a fingerprint; each expression is unique unto itself—complex, wonderful, and distinct.
And then some voices are just plain sexy.
Anthropologists have found a fascinating relationship between voice and sexuality. Since there is an established correlation between testosterone and a deep vocal pitch and estrogen and a high vocal pitch, the human voice functions almost as a broadcast for our hormone levels.
A study on voice attractiveness and sexual behavior in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior published earlier this summer finally grabbed my attention. Of course I have run into my fair share of vocal aphrodisiacs in my day, and I’ve always known there is a correlation between sex appeal and voice colors…
BUT when faced with this kind of hard evidence…. sexual partners and start being sexually active at an earlier age.
…well, a “Mon Dieu” escaped from my lips. Obviously, this “Mon Dieu” was uttered in the most sultry, husky, and alluring of tones and the words came out of a perfectly painted fire engine red mouth.
Alright. I’ll come clean. My voice (or lips!) are really none of those things. In fact, when I hear my voice on a recording I sometimes can’t help but squirm. Thankfully, I’m not alone! Many Americans also find the sound of their voice to be cringe-inducing.
When voice is so key in sexual attraction, I encourage She is French followers to spend a little more time thinking more about their pitch and less about their choice of words. At the end of the day, people only remember 2% of what was said in a conversation. What is left behind is an impression, often derived from vocal information.

Mesdames et Messieurs—if voice really is such a great indicator of character—I guess the only question that remains is: who do you want to be?
