The September Issue: The Good the Bad and the Ugly!

I just came out of seeing the September issue and this movie title sums up all that my experience of working for 3+ years in the fashion industry:

The Good is played by Grace Goddington who truly stands for what Fashion is about in its essence: a never ending seek for sheer beauty and talent. What makes us dream. The Sola Gratia as defined by the Catholic Doctrine which holds that salvation is made possible only by grace; the faith and works of men are secondary means that have their origins in and are sustained by grace. And the designers talents are variations of that grace.

The Bad is Anna Wintour who embodies those who think they are the Popes of Fashion and dictate what your dreams should look like or that this grace should be implemented by everyone at all times.

And the Ugly are the yes man (funny how all those men in this movie had such pathetic attitudes) that crawl the entire movie, too afraid to stand for their own beliefs or worse the Andre Leon Talley’s of the world who are a masquerade to fashion showing up on the court with a LV racket and a diamond watch.

Conclusion:

1 – Continue to stare at Grace Coddington‘s shoots in Vogue
2- Never let anyone dictate your sense of beauty as awkward as it may seem
3- Rebel and Unvogue yourself
