The Temple of Cool

I am just out of Colette, the Parisian store. They are the Temple of Cool for the Fashion industry and well for just about everything else in life – mostly things you didn’t know you needed but will now be craving. The brands are Japanese, the editions are Limited, everything they sell from the cells phones to the watches, bags and books screams: I’m the one!

Entering the store can feel intimidating, like walking uninvited at the cool kids party. The parents gone for the week-end. The music cranking a mix of Air & Tiger Sushi. Everyone seems blase, bored and beautiful.  The style is too cool for school, sexy with an edge, painfully expensive but so perfectly edited. Actually most of the things in the store you will see here and nowhere else because they are collaboration between artists and brands.

Bottles of water are in limited editions! Indeed, Colette has a Water Bar -what else would you expect for French women to stay thin- where artists and brands collaborate to make beautiful bottles that you’ll want to collect.

Even Coca Cola has it’s own collaboration with Justice and with Karl Lagerfeld!

Another of their best seller is a collaboration with Olivier Zahm, the editor of Purple Magazine who named a candle with his picture half naked simply: Sex.

This one just fell in the trying-too-hard-or-not-at-all category!
